Dear, Juno
The creation of life is a beautiful miracle. But it is a miracle that requires a great amount of responsibility. I believe that reproduction is a fundamental goal in human life, but i also believe that it should happen when you are financially and emotionally stable enough to take proper care of your child. Your decision in choosing adoption over abortion is a very responsible and mature one. After you became pregnant I believe that you choose the best possible option for you and your child. At the age of 16 you were not ready to take on the enormous responsibility of raising a child. With that in mind you didn't choose the easy way out and follow through with an abortion, which could have possibly affected you more emotionally and could have left you wondering whether or not you murdered your own child. So in your situation I believe that you chose the best course of action and handled your situation as responsibly as possible.
Depending on the exact situation I believe the best option changes drastically with teen pregnancy. I strongly believe that abortion should be an available option for pregnant teens (for the first trimester). I believe that an abortion can be justified in a certain very unfortunate circumstances, such as, in the event of a rape, a massive deformation of the fetus, or possibly a genetic disorder. These are all justifiable reasons to get an abortion and the decision lies with the parents of the fetus. Then there are people that abuse abortions. People that use abortions as some sick form of birth control where they cavalierly get abortions each time they get pregnant, and never attempt to use any contraceptive. People that treat life so nonchalantly disgust me beyond words.
With that said the choice on how to deal with a pregnancy lies with the parents and no one else. Because of this I could not vote against abortion because I would be violating someone's right of choice. I am content with the outcome of Roe Vs. Wade because it has not violated the woman’s right to choose. And the women who can completely justify an abortion within themselves have the ability to get one, and the can do it privately without the interference of their parents due to the 14th amendment, which is that way it should be.
